Brent "Finance Wizard" Plante: A Look at the Unsung Finance Heroes of Thomsen

The finance department is a department many in the public eye don't get to meet often. Without them, Thomsen wouldn't be where it is today. We're taking this next "Get to Know" series to them and putting them front and center! Brent is our "finance wizard" here at Thomsen and if you have a question about anything spreadsheets, he's the man to go to! He is full of witty remarks and always greets you with a smile and a "how's your day going." Get to know Brent below!   What hobby would you get into if time and money weren’t an issue? Traveling to golf all over. What fictional place would you most like to go? Jurassic Park. Look at your last song listened to on your phone. What is it? “Finest Wine” by Six60. My favorite word in the English language is? Cattywampus. If you could only watch one movie for the rest of your life, what movie and why? Home Alone 2. I could watch Marv and Harry getting pranked every day and I would still laugh just as hard each time. Flashback to when you were 10 years old. What did you want to be when you grow up? Professional football player for the Minnesota Vikings. Where would you spend all your time if you could? At an all-inclusive resort somewhere warm with drink(s) in hand! What is one of your favorite smells? Frying bacon! If you had to change your name, what would you change it to? I would add some tilde’s to my name to make it look and sound cooler.  What’s the title of the current chapter of your life? Rosetta Stone – Toddler Lingo. Who inspires you to be better? My wife and son. When people come to you for help, what do they usually want help with? Either help with a spreadsheet or help coordinating payments to vendors.   What are some small things that make your day better? Getting a hug and smiles from my little man before and after work. What’s a typical day like for you at work? A lot of people associate a career in accounting as downright boring with a bunch of number crunching. At Thomsen, that is far from the case and every day is different. We still have the day to day accounting work, but each day also provides unique challenges and tasks. What do you think are the best skills that you bring to your job? My Excel skills. We use a ton of spreadsheets here at Thomsen. What do you love most about your job? My coworkers and the culture. We truly have an amazing team at Thomsen Homes! Also, thirsty Thursday is pretty neat.   If you catch yourself in the Thomsen Homes office, make sure to stop by and see Brent! You can't miss him (he's pretty tall) ;).
