Kirsten Dahlstrom: The Woman, The Myth, The Sales Specialist

Kirsten is a staple here at Thomsen Homes. Starting out at front desk, she quickly excelled through the ranks and became a Sales Specialist alongside Jessica and Nate. She has been with us close to three years and loves every moment! Her favorite thing about her job is helping clients through the build process and making dreams come true. What are some small things that make your day better? Witnessing others being polite, coming home from a long day and seeing how happy my son is to see me, receiving a compliment from a stranger or someone I know and knowing they meant it, listening to a good mood tune.

What’s a typical day like for you at work? Meeting with multiple potential clients, showing homes and taking phone calls – always usually on the go.

What do you think are the best skills that you bring to your job? Communication skills, personality, motivated and willingness to learn.

What do you love most about your job? I love the fact that I get to help people with one of the biggest decisions that they will make in their life . It is very rewarding. ?

Nate “The Great” Anderson: Often Imitated, Never Duplicated

Nate is our Broker and master salesman here at Thomsen. He’s been with us for six years, making him a staple figure at the office. With a knack for communicating and handling multiple clients at a time, Nate is one to go to when looking to purchase a home! Outside Thomsen, Nate is quite the busy man! He is currently serving in the National Guard and is kept going at home with a wife and two little girls. Get to know some more about him below!

 The ability to gain trust, effectively communicate, and build rapport with all kinds of people

I’m passionate about creating beautiful homes that are affordable for most families. I feel that building real relationships with our clients and business partners is how we provide the best experience in our industry. Our homebuilding experience is based upon trust and genuine caring about every aspect of the process. I’m excited each day I get the privilege of accompanying a client on the homebuilding journey.

Lego Drive Thomsen Homes

We need Legos! Join Thomsen Homes and Life 97.9 in supporting a Lego Drive for the Do It Well organization. Do It Well, Inc is dedicated to enriching lives of local children by providing a gift to those in need at our area hospitals and children in foster care throughout Cass and Richland counties.

New boy, girl or toddler Legos are being collected at Thomsen Homes office now through June, 30th during normal business hours.

June National Homeownership Month-Join us June 23rd

June, the kick off to summer! Schools out and it’s time to enjoy the warm weather! Seems like this month always goes by fast but if you take a quick second you should know that the whole month of June is National Home ownership Month! Yayyy!  Homeownership is a dream that so many people have and the  team here at Thomsen Homes is honored to be a part of and make that dream happen.

To celebrate National Homeownership month Thomsen Homes along with, Lindsey Svir, Mortgage Loan Originator with TCF Home Loans, and Jessica Bloomquist with Keller Williams Inspire Realty are hosting an event at one of our model homes on Sunday, June 23rd. Join us for some food, cold beverages, fun and get your questions answered about new construction homes, home loan options and benefits of working with a realtor.

I would add some tilde’s to my name to make it look and sound cooler.

My wife and son.

When people come to you for help, what do they usually want help with?

Either help with a spreadsheet or help coordinating payments to vendors.  

What are some small things that make your day better?

Getting a hug and smiles from my little man before and after work.

What’s a typical day like for you at work?

A lot of people associate a career in accounting as downright boring with a bunch of number crunching. At Thomsen, that is far from the case and every day is different. We still have the day to day accounting work, but each day also provides unique challenges and tasks.

What do you think are the best skills that you bring to your job?

My Excel skills. We use a ton of spreadsheets here at Thomsen.

What do you love most about your job?

My coworkers and the culture. We truly have an amazing team at Thomsen Homes! Also, thirsty Thursday is pretty neat.

Home Is Where Mom Is

No matter what stage you are in, in Motherhood, being a mom is hard work. Whether your littles are 30 years old or 3 years old, Moms have been the center of the home.

So, what about the different types of mom’s? – The mom that loves to cook, or the neat freak mom, the “mom boss”, whatever type of mom you are there are so many different things to think about when building your new home to suit your “mom lifestyle”. We picked 3 different types of mom’s that maybe you can relate to and different ideas when it comes to building a home to suit your lifestyle.

For the Empty Nester:

Kids are grown and out of the home. Maybe, you are looking to downsize or have grandchildren. Whatever kind of empty nester you are when building your new home here are some things to consider:

Do you need extra space for visitors? – Whether the grand kids come to stay, or you have your grown kiddos stay. Think about any extra bedrooms and a floor plan that maybe allows for that extra space for guests.

Or maybe you want a floor plan with all main level living? Look at different slab-on grade plans that are low maintenance.

Turn a bedroom into a closet, have that space you always dreamed of for your hobbies, clothing, trinkets or whatever you want!

For the Neat Freak:

No matter what stage you are in this neat freak stage maybe kicked in before motherhood or afterwards, either way it doesn’t matter. When it comes to building your home there are things you can do within your floor plan to make sure those messes can be tidy and organized!

Think about different storage options, maybe invest in an over-sized mudroom with built in- lockers to keep the family organized.

This can trickle throughout the home whether it’s additional pantry storage, or a built- in buffet in the dining area to keep all those platters and items that may not fit within the kitchen cabinetry.

For the Chef:

The kitchen can be the heart of the home and if you are a mom that loves to cook this room in the home is especially important! When building think about what kind of counter space you want. Maybe, consider an over-sized island, or a pot filler for ease of access to the stove.  Pantry space, custom niches or open shelving to display cookbooks or dishes the options are endless!

Kaylee is Thomsen Homes’ newest addition to the Design Team and brings a whirlwind of knowledge, planning and thoughtfulness to the design process. Kaylee manages day to day pricing and designing, keeping each and every home build process flowing smoothly. She assists our Designers with every project and helps make tough decisions, easier. You can also find Kaylee working part-time at Brewtus in Moorhead where she will serve you up some amazing food and cold beverages!
