The Perks of Construction Management
Summer is here, the birds are chirping, and houses are being built! Construction went into full swing at Thomsen Homes as soon as the frost came out of the ground. No matter the weather, constant building is maintained throughout the year, but maximum production hits its peak during the summer months. Whether itâs overseeing the digging and pouring of a foundation, supervising the installation of finish work, or making a house shine for closing day, the construction manager is onsite daily to ensure quality control and timeliness.
Easy as it sounds, a lot more goes into the day to day operations within construction management. Schedules need to be maintained, products and materials need to be accounted for or verified, numerous checklists are conducted, inspections need to be called in, and various other odds and ends pop up throughout the day. To say the least, multitasking is usually a strong suit in this line of work. This goes hand in hand with being able to problem solve on the fly. Thereâs never an issue too big that canât be resolved, but finding solutions in a timely manner while taking in new issues definitely keeps a person on their toes. On the plus side, the days during busy season go by extremely fast!
Nevertheless, the day to day interactions with subcontractors, vendors, and clients make the job all worthwhile. At the end of the day, we are building a place to call home, and that is something we all take pride in. Itâs really exciting to see the clientsâ ideas facilitated through design and then come to life during the build process. Then on closing day, all the hard work meshes together and provides a homeowner with a sense of achievement and happiness. Seeing that on a regular basis gives meaning to the job and our own sense of accomplishment. In other words, itâs gratifying to be part of something bigger, and Thomsen Homes provides that platform.
