House Plan Highlight: 2180 Bi-Level

Continuing our monthly house plan series, this month we are featuring the 2180 Bi-Level. This monthly series is to help provide you with ideas and a different perspective on each of our home plans that we offer.

The 2180 Bi-Level Floor Plan

With 2,180 finished square feet, 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, the 2180 Bi-Level is the perfect starter home or for anyone looking to downsize. This floor plan has endless possibilities and potential. You can change the floor plan to fit your lifestyle and needs.

Some ideas are:

Remove a bedroom to create a spacious upstairs
Create a master suite by adding a master bath
Add a powder room upstairs
Remove the laundry from the mechanical room and create a laundry room upstairs
Add a 3rd stall to the garage
Expand your master walk-in closet

Of course you can add smaller items such as a corner walk-in pantry, tile backsplash, open railing, etc.

Our Journey with Thomsen: Part Two

Last week you were introduced to our guest blogger Jenna Meyers and the home building journey for her and her family. Below is part two of the series. Stay tuned for more each week from Jenna!

To Buy or Build?

Three and a half years ago, we moved into our first home, which we built with Thomsen Homes. “You’re building another house already?!” is a phrase we hear often. While we are sad to be leaving our first home, as our family has grown our needs have changed and it’s time to move forward.

Building was a no brainer the first time around: we found the three level split (1944 3 Stall) when searching on-line, loved the layout of the home, and there were no existing three levels to purchase. Fast forward to now, and we put a little more thought into whether to buy or build.

Looking for a forever home

As a planner always looking to our next steps in life, I found the 2090 3 stall Thomsen Homes listing and knew I wanted it 6 months before moving was even in our realm of possibility. We now have two daughters and we simply need more space and functionality. When we decided that it was definitely time to start looking, our first step was to get to the model homes immediately! They did not disappoint! I had already fallen in love with the layout of the house through photos, but being in the space really solidified that it felt like home.

My husband wasn’t as quick to say yes this time. Our first home was always temporary for us, we knew within 10 years or less we would be moving. Our new house is the home we hope to continue to grow our family in as a forever home. With that in mind, and with some advisement from our parents, we decided to also consider existing homes for our move.

2-Story

Before looking at any other homes, we sat down and made our “non-negotiable” list: a list of things we wanted in our forever home that we wish we currently had or things we love about our current home that we can’t give up! With our list in hand, we started to visit existing homes while continuing to head back to the 2 story model home to compare. Our list of things we wanted grew, as did our love of the Thomsen home! We were close to moving forward with an existing home, even went as far as putting in an offer. When our offer wasn’t accepted, it helped us reflect on our choice. What were we giving up? A lot. We went back to that original list and realized there was a lot we were sacrificing that we wouldn’t have to if we built the 2 story that I fell in love with months before.

So we’ve sold our first home, signed on the dotted line, and our journey with Thomsen Homes begins again!

House Plan Highlight: 1525 Rambler

Going to an open house or a model home will help you visualize and see what the home is like. This will give you a perspective of what you like, what you don’t like and what you would change. Floor plan that suits your lifestyle

If you are looking to build a home, figuring out what kind of floor plan that best suits your lifestyle is a big task. When you walk into the 1525 rambler you instantly fall in love with the openness of this floor plan and vaulted ceilings. The 1525 rambler floor plan gives you opportunity to become creative with the living, kitchen and dining space. Perfect layout for entertaining. As a host/hostess the kitchen is typically where you will be prepping food and refilling beverages. Being able to have the open space with the dining and living room you will feel connected to your guests no matter what area of the room they are in.

Featuring a master suite with a private bath and large walk-in closet there is plenty of room for an accent chair to relax and curl up with a good book. A private bath right off the master is key to a bedroom oasis. There are many different options that you can do to your home to make it work for you and your family. If you want two sinks in your master bath you can!

Finish the basement and customize it with adding two bedrooms, bathroom and a family room.

Selecting a floor plan doesn’t tie you down to those options. You may have an idea and like a floor plan like the 1525 rambler but there are things you would do differently. Just ask.
