Position Summary:
The Construction Manager is responsible for managing projects from start to finish and allocating resources accordingly. They will uphold the use of quality craftsmanship, materials, and processes, be cost conscious to complete tasks, and review contracts to make sure that current practices align with the Company’s expectations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
This is a field-based role with 100% of time spent on active work sites.
Oversee jobsites and materials
- Monitor project schedules daily, paying close attention tasks are updated for accuracy
- Ensure the project is built per plan and added options/selections
- Point of contact for all Trade Partners for assigned projects
- Communicate with Design and Sales teams as required throughout projects
- Prompt communication to resolve issues quickly and move projects forward
- Ensure projects are kept clean, organized, and safe
- Exterior of projects are kept up to standards, meeting EPA guidelines, Thomsen Homes best practices
- Coordinate scheduled product delivery to prevent damage and jobsite access issues
- Be sure unused material/product is returned promptly
- Visit sites when required to verify progress
- Achieve detailed understanding of scopes of work and the home building process
- The three “E’s” (Every house, Every room, Every day)
Provide a high-quality finished product
- Complete quality checkpoints throughout the cycle of every project
- Work with Trade Partners to address any concern areas
- Suggest and implement change to prevent the same issues from arising multiple times
- Create punch-lists as per the schedule
- Coordinate and perform punch-list work as required
- Manage Trade relationships and hold Trades/Vendors accountable
- Follow the Thomsen Homes process for communication with Trades/Vendors
- Follow up to ensure mobilization and completion on critical schedule tasks
On time project completion
- Monitor and adjust schedules as needed on all active homes, DAILY
- Adjust schedule durations to accommodate specific crew production
- Manage/Communicate consistent Trade Partner timeliness concerns
- Elevate Trade/Vendor concerns/issues to your supervisor immediately
On call
- May be required to be on call over weekends
- Required to stabilize situations that arise. This includes scheduling subs and/or physically visiting the home to address the issue if required
Qualifications and Skills:
- High school diploma or GED required
- 3 years of home building experience preferred
- Valid driver’s license required
- Extensive knowledge of residential construction and best practices
- Strong leader
- High level of problem-solving skills
- Ability to multi-task while accomplishing goals and deadlines
- Driven by deadlines and task completion
- High attention to detail

- Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills

Work Environment & Physical Demands:
- Primarily field setting
- Must be able to carry, lift, push, pull and otherwise move objects
- This position is required to sit; stand; walk and reach with hands and arms
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
