Title: Senior Accountant

Position Summary:
We are seeking a proactive, detail-oriented, and experienced Senior Accountant to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will have 4 years of accounting experience (6+ years preferred), with a strong background in financial statement analysis. A CPA license is preferred but not mandatory. This role will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and completeness of our financial records, preparing financial reports, and supporting the overall financial health of the organization.
A day in the life of a Senior Accountant at Thomsen Homes:
- Assist with preparing and analyzing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Perform variance analysis and explain discrepancies between actual and budgeted figures.
- Assist in the budgeting and forecasting processes.
- Perform the general accounting functions, including, but not limited to: accounts payable, accounts receivable, prepaid expenses, inventory, land, general ledger, and inventory.
- Reconcile account balances and bank statements, maintain the general ledger, and prepare month-end close procedures.
- Ensure compliance with accounting principles, standards, and regulations (US GAAP).
- Assist with the annual tax return and/or audit process including the preparation of audit and/or tax schedules and liaising with firms.
- Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
- Conduct financial analysis to support business decision-making.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in financial operations.
- Coordinate with other departments to collect and verify financial information.
- Support ad-hoc projects and initiatives as required by management.

- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- CPA license preferred.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in accounting.
- Preferred: Experience in the homebuilding industry and over 6 years of experience.
